About me
Retired after 35 years in technology, now dabbling with tech and running as much as possible
I did Couch to 5K during the Covid lockdowns having not run since leaving school over 40 years ago. I did my first 5k in June 2020 in a time of 30:14, getting slower all the time, and with an average heart rate of 171, peaking at 182! This is the story of my running journey.

This site provides me with a platform to write about two of my main interests – running and technology. At my age I suspect that many people would have been giving up running and taking up cycling to give their knees a rest, so I think
the change is unusual. My transformation from keen cyclist to obsessed runner got off to a slow start, but there
have been key turning points on the way. At some point I plan to write a book about my conversion – starting with Couch to 5k, it will describe my running journey “Beyond 5k”. I have the structure in my mind and the proposed chapters
are published as a blog.
The technical topics will be more varied and will typically describe my tech projects. As a career “techie” who focused on the configuration and implementation of Enterprise Applications and Solution Architecture I had very little
exposure to front end design, so a by-product of this site is that one day I might learn how to size and align images and controls properly!
